“The Four Pillar Model: Community-Led Capacity Building and Priority Setting”- Project Coordinator

Overview:

The Four Pillar Approach to substance use is a key strategy used in both federal and provincial planning across Ontario. This evidence-based model focuses on Harm Reduction, Prevention, Treatment, and Enforcement. Despite its prominence, it has been critiqued for its silo-ed approach and lack of meaningful involvement of people with living and lived expertise of drug use (PWLLE). This project aims to address these gaps through a PWLLE-led initiative.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Lead and manage the overall project, ensuring all deliverables are met on time and within budget.
  • Coordination of Meetings: Organize and facilitate a four-part virtual meeting series, each focusing on one of the Four Pillars (Harm Reduction, Prevention, Treatment, Enforcement).
  • Community Engagement: Work with the Ontario Network of People who Use Drugs (ONPUD) to form and support a PWLLE-member Guidance Committee.
  • Collaboration: Engage with health system partners including public health, community health, policy makers, and researchers.
  • Capacity Building: Develop and disseminate educational materials to strengthen PWLLE communities’ knowledge of the Four Pillar Approach.
  • Action Prioritization: Facilitate group activities during meetings to identify and prioritize action strategies.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Develop and disseminate summary reports and other knowledge tools based on meeting outcomes.
  • Stakeholder Communication and Engagement: Maintain regular communication with all stakeholders, including PWLLE communities and health system partners.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in project coordination, preferably in the public health or community engagement sector.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with the Four Pillar Approach to substance use and issues affecting PWLLE communities.
  • Skills: Strong organizational, facilitation, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Work, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and virtual meeting platforms (e.g., Zoom).

Compensation: taxes are included in the pay and the coordinator is responsible for ensuring the payment is made.

Total per 4 weeks 914.28

Total after 28 weeks 6399.96
