Invitation & Information for People with Lived Experience of HIV and/or Hep C to Virtual Engagement Sessions

Hello members of our community that have living or lived experience with HIV and/or hepatitis C,

Below is an amazing opportunity from the Public Health Agency of Canada to have your voice heard and to contribute to the movement.

“The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) is preparing for the planned launch, in Fall 2020 of open solicitations for the HIV and Hepatitis C Community Action Fund (CAF) and the Harm Reduction Fund (HRF).  Through the CAF and the HRF, organisations can apply for federal grants and contributions that  support time-limited community-based projects across Canada to reduce HIV, hepatitis C and other sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBI).

To inform PHAC’s approach to these solicitations, PHAC is inviting people living with HIV and/or hepatitis C to attend one of several planned engagement sessions in July.  These engagement sessions reinforce the Government of Canada’s commitment to meaningfully engage people living with HIV, viral hepatitis and key populations in the development and implementation of policies and programs, which is the first guiding principle of the Pan-Canadian Framework for Action on Sexually Transmitted and Blood-borne Infections.

The purpose of these sessions is to ensure PHAC investments in the STBBI community response are informed by people with lived experience.  This session is intended to outline and seek feedback on the proposed process for the Fall solicitations of the Community Action Fund and the Harm Reduction Fund and to confirm the two Funds’ priorities, which were outlined in the Government of Canada Five-Year STBBI Action Plan released last summer.

These sessions will be complemented by virtual sessions with national and community-based organisations and sharing circles with Indigenous-led organisations.

If you are interested in participating, we kindly ask that you pre-register using the corresponding link for one of the following sessions.  If you have any questions, please e-mail us at phac-cp-pc-aspc@canada.ca.

Please note that an additional English session has been added for July 15 for people living with HIV due to high interest.
