The Canadian AIDS Society’s Annual Meeting (AM) is an opportunity for member organizations to collectively shape the future of the HIV movement in this country. Specifically, attending members will be able to:
- network with colleagues from among the Canadian AIDS Society’s member and associate organizations;
- set priorities for the community-based AIDS movement; and,
- participate in the general business of the Canadian AIDS Society.
In 2016, the Canadian AIDS Society (CAS) was pleased to host its Annual Meeting as an ancillary event following the 25th Annual Canadian Conference on HIV/AIDS Research (CAHR 2016) – held in Winnipeg between May 16-18, 2016.
While both the CAS PLWHIV Forum and Annual Meeting have in the past traditionally been hosted in Ottawa, we hope to institute a new practice of hosting our annual conferences in various cities across Canada – aligning ourselves whenever possible each year with other major conferences connecting the HIV movement.
There are several advantages to hosting our conferences in various locations across Canada – and we intend to increase the total number of CAS scholarships to offer financial assistance to PLWHIV, with or without ASO affiliation, and member organization representatives as a way to encourage attendance to these important meetings.
If you are a member of CAS, make plans to join us and other member organizations to share information, discuss new ideas, contribute to policy development and renew acquaintances.

While the CAS PLWHIV Forum and Annual Meeting have traditionally been held consecutively in the past, with the Annual Meeting held immediately after the Forum, the format changed this year due to financial constraints. This year, our Annual Meeting will be a business meeting in a webinar format. Though the in-person meetings have benefits which we will certainly miss, the technology of the webinar format also offers us unique advantages including the ability to participate directly from wherever we are located in the country without the cost of travelling and related inconveniences. We hope the use of webinars will increase ...
First, our sincere apologies for the delay in following up about the Forum/Annual Meeting. For reasons beyond our control, namely the timing of the disbursement of funds required for this year’s events, we were unable to proceed within our original timelines. However, for the Annual Meeting, please note that our usual funder will not finance the Annual Meeting, so we will be looking for other opportunities to ...

Dear CAS members, The past year was a tumultuous period for the Canadian AIDS Society and for the HIV/AIDS movement as a whole – in fact, the word crisis is not too strong a term to describe it. Let’s not kid ourselves: there have been significant costs associated with this period of turmoil – both monetary and emotional costs as CAS strived to both manage the crisis and simultaneously begin a period of renewal. From what several member organizations have been telling us, there have been various facets of discontent for some time; so it makes sense that things cannot ...
