Judy Weiser

Judy Weiser, licensed psychologist and registered art therapist, is a therapist, consultant, and trainer specializing for over twenty years in counselling people who are infected or affected by HIV/AIDS, especially gay men and street-involved Aboriginal youth and adults (who often also have addiction or Residential School legacy complications). She now offers workshops about these emotional, mental, and spiritual issues -- and how to help heal them! She has also published several articles and book chapters concerning the psychosocial aspects of HIV/AIDS counselling. Director of the "PhotoTherapy Centre" in Vancouver she also consults, offers workshops, and writes about how to use people's own snapshots and family photos as aids to counselling and communication. She is also the founder of the HIV/AIDS Study Group of the American Art Therapy Association, and co-founder of both the HIV/AIDS Interest Group of the Canadian Psychological Association and the Canadian AIDS Memorial Quilt (for whom she wrote about the AIDS Quilt's role in emotional healing).
