John is from St. John’s, Newfoundland and is currently the Outreach Coordinator for the AIDS Committee of Newfoundland and Labrador (ACNL). John began volunteering and working with AIDS Service Organizations since testing positive in 1993. Aside from his work with ACNL, John is also the vice chairperson for the Newfoundland and Labrador Positive People Network, a group of people living with HIV in Newfoundland and Labrador who provide information and support to others living with HIV in the province. John’s work allows him to travel across Newfoundland and Labrador and provide HIV/AIDS education to schools and community groups.
