Prisons
Questions to Ask Local Candidates
We know all too well that the number of prisoners living with HIV/AIDS and/or hepatitis C (HCV) in federal and provincial prisons continues to increase and that this increase can be prevented. We are concerned about the health and well being of both inmates across this country, as well as the communities within which these people will live upon release from prison.
- How does your party plan to curb the growing HIV and HCV epidemics within federal prisons?
- What is your position regarding Canadian inmates rights to health and security of self?
- How will your party rise to the challenge of addressing the health and disease prevention needs of federal inmates with respect to HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C and related issues?
- Will your party work to promote risk reduction activities by reinstating “Safer tattooing” and implementing “Needle Exchange” programs in Federal institutions?
- Will your party champion against mandatory HIV/HCV testing of prisoners?
