Canada is the only country in the world to have both a national Microbicides Action Plan and a Canadian HIV Vaccines Plan. Both Plans have been created with participation of all sectors of society: government, industry, research and community.

1. Given that microbicides, when available, would be an effective, user initiated, easy to use protection against HIV, will you and your party support the increase of funding allocated to Microbicide research and community engagement?
2. While the HIV/AIDS movement in Canada was thrilled at the news of the creation of the Canadian HIV Vaccines Initiative, it was a direct blow to this very sector when funds from the community were used to finance this Initiative. If you are elected, will your party fund the community to the level outlined in the Federal Initiative?
