BMO Financial Group Honoured for Leadership and Commitment in the Fight Against HIV/AIDS

(Toronto, January 28, 2004) – Today, representatives from the Canadian community-based AIDS movement, local politicians and honourary guests gathered to honour the BMO Financial Group, the recipient of the 2003 Canadian AIDS Society (CAS) Certificate of Recognition (Financial Sector).
“BMO Financial Group’s dedication in supporting the work of HIV/AIDS, both locally and nationally, is an example of the cooperation required to support people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS in Canada,” said Gail Flintoft, Chair of the Board of Directors, CAS. “It is an honour for CAS to acknowledge BMO’s achievement with this award,” BMO Financial Group has been a proud supporter in the fight against HIV/AIDS for a number of years.
“It is our hope that this award not only acknowledges the commitment of BMO Financial Group, but it will strengthen our partnership,” concluded Flintoft.

The CAS is a coalition of 115 community-based AIDS organizations across Canada. The CAS mandate is to speak as a national voice and act as a forum for a community-based response to HIV infection, as well as to advocate for persons so affected. The CAS Certificate of Recognition was inaugurated in 2002 to acknowledge significant contributions to the AIDS movement from leading companies by sector. Sectors covered in 2003 include: the Pharmaceutical Industry, Transport, Financial Sector, Food & Beverages, and Retail.
The award also services to increase public awareness of CAS, our work and the contributions of our supporters.
