With the deadline for nominations now past, the next step in the awards process will be the evaluation of the nominations submitted. All nominations will be reviewed a committee comprised of Canadian AIDS Society (CAS) Board Members. The initial review of submissions is scheduled for the end of June.
Given that there are a significant amount of nominations, we expect the process may take some time. Once 30 successful candidates have been determined, a 250 character description of their accomplishments will be drafted by CAS and forwarded to the Governor General’s office for final approval.
We are estimating that the entire selection process will be finalized by early Fall. Once this phase is complete, CAS will contact the individual(s) who submitted nominations for successful candidates and consult with them on the presentation of the medal. We also intend to present some medals to successful candidates who may be in attendance at CAS’ 2012 World AIDS Day Gala, to be held this year on Tuesday, November 27.
As the review process advances, we will update this notice to keep you informed about our progress.
We thank you for having submitted a nomination to CAS for a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for contributions to the field of HIV/AIDS. Best of luck to all nominees and thank you for your ongoing dedication and efforts to improve the lives of people living with HIV and to end the epidemic.
