Module 9 - One Foot Forward : A GIPA Training Toolkit - Stepping Out, Getting Involved: Integrating Youth Living with HIV

Module 9 of the GIPA Training Toolkit is written for youth living with HIV and is designed by them. This plain language resource encourages readers to become involved in their AIDS service organizations and teaches them the ins and outs of how agencies operate.
Active youth will learn how to assess their own skills and how best to apply them to make a difference. Stepping Out, Getting Involved contains a wealth of information on:

  • self-expression;
  • confidence-building;
  • managing counter-productive emotions;
  • leadership and responsibility;
  • interacting with others; and
  • self-care.

It also provides youth with helpful hints to capitalize on the tools they already use and know so well, such as social media, and offers them new ones that help them to succeed.
