Ethnocultural Communities

black_womanSince many Canadians with HIV come from ethnocultural communities and may be refugees, immigrants and non-status immigrants, they are confronted with many additional challenges than just that of living with HIV.

They often face discrimination and stigma, both within and beyond their own communities, have difficulties accessing treatment due to their inability to qualify for Canadian health insurance programs, and are sometimes challenged by cultural and language barriers.

This section documents the challenges they are confronted with and details services that are available to assist them.
