15 Hoorahs for the Winners of the Canadian AIDS Society 15 Words for Prevention 2012 Contest!

The Canadian AIDS Society is pleased to announce the winners of its 15 Words for Prevention contest that was part of the 15 Minutes for Mom 2012 HIV awareness campaign held this past Mother’s Day.

Moms were asked to craft 15-word HIV prevention messages for their children, while sons, daughters and partners were asked to offer up messages of thanks to moms for their prevention messages, or to write a note of prevention for the moms in the their life.

We are thrilled to share with you the resulting messages and to congratulate our winners, who will receive brand new iPads.



Winner in the Messages for Moms category: Sharleen Pope, Cochrane, ON

Message: Fifteen minutes of education equals enough knowledge to prevent stigma and make a real difference.
Winner in the Messages from Mom category: Carol Nicholson, Thunder Bay, ON

Message: Walk the Walk. Share the Talk. Use Prevention! Avoid Injection -- To reduce your risk of getting HIV or HEP-C Infection!

Note: While we had included a counting mechanism in the on-line form to keep track of the word count, a malfunction occurred for some entries. Regardless, all submissions, except second messages from the same participant, were accepted and entered into the draws for the iPads.
